Great Wolf Lodge Bicester, England was a proposed Great Wolf Lodge that would've be located in Bicester, England, United Kingdom. It was first announced in June 2019. The resort would've been the first Great Wolf Lodge in the United Kingdom and Europe as well as the first location not to be in North America. It would've also been the 2nd international location after Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The resort would've been placed next to the Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa on a plot of land which is currently a part of a 18 hole golf course. Had the resort been built, the golf course would've been reduced to 9 holes.
Controversy and Cancellation
There were concerns by locals that the area around the resort would become too congested with traffic if Great Wolf were to operate a location in Bicester. Many also argued the resort wouldn't benefit the local community and would only benefit Great Wolf themselves. In March 2020, the Cherwell District Council in northern Oxfordshire, England rejected the plans. Despite an appeal made by Great Wolf Resorts in October 2020 against the rejection it is highly unlikely this resort will come into fruition. It is currently unknown if Great Wolf will ever invest in the European market or not.
